Lauki Halwa | Bottle-guard Dessert is very popular dessert in North India. It is made with grated bottle-guard with some milk / milk-powder and sugar, some nuts. Here I am using milk powder to make this halwa.
It is very healthy, delicious, easy to make halwa. You can eat this halwa during fasting.
Lauki is a vegetable which you can find in all the seasons so it can be enjoyed anytime.

1 Whole – Lauki / Dudhi / Bottle-guard (grated)
1Tblsp – Ghee / Clarified Butter
1 Cup – Sugar
1 Cup – Milk Powder
Chopped nuts ( Cashew, Almond, Raisins)
Directions
- Heat ghee / clarified butter in a heavy bottom pan.
- Add grated bottle guard.
- Cook for some time until bottle guard semi soft.
- Add sugar and mix.
- Sugar will release some water so cook until water dries out.
- Add milk powder and mix.
- Cook until desired consistency.
- Garnish with nuts of you choice.

Tips
- You can enjoy eating this delicious halwa hot or cold.
- You can also add some cardamom powder once done.
- If you do not have milk powder then cook bottle-guard in full fat milk.
- You can also add khoya.
