Coconut laddu / Coconut dessert/ nariyal laddu / is an easy to make dessert which is healthy and also very delicious.

In Indian subcontinent coconut is widely used in religious ceremonies , festivals and as health supplement due to it’s nutritious values . So this recipe can be used in fasting (upwas / vrat) or as a party dessert or as your daily sweet dish.

Coconut laddu is easy to make at home that makes this recipe free from any chances of adulteration. It’s main ingredients are just coconut , condensed milk and some dry fruits .

In festive seasons like Diwali , Navratri or any party or event it could be a quick dessert /snacks that anyone can make easily at home. You could add condensed milk / sugar or butter based on your health and taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Coconut Powder

  • 1/2 cup Condensed Milk

  • Almond Flakes (optional)

  • Cardamom Powder

Directions

  • In a heavy bottom pan slightly roast coconut powder.
  • Add condensed milk and mix.
  • Cook on low heat.
  • Add cardamom powder and cook until thick.
  • Once thick it will start leaving pan. Do not overcook.
  • Turn off the heat and let it cool.
  • Apply some butter to your hands and make balls/ laddu.
  • Roll in coconut powder.
  • Decorate with almond flakes.

Tips

  • Lightly roast coconut do not burn.
  • Condensed milk should be at room temperature.
  • If you do not have condensed milk you can replace it with evaporated milk. Adjust sugar.
  • If you do not like cardamom powder, skip that.
  • While making laddus apply some ghee/clarified butter/or just butter to your hands to avoid sticking it in to your hands.
