Lauki Halwa | Bottle-guard Dessert is very popular dessert in North India. It is made with grated bottle-guard with some milk / milk-powder and sugar, some nuts. Here I am using milk powder to make this halwa.

It is very healthy, delicious, easy to make halwa. You can eat this halwa during fasting.

Lauki is a vegetable which you can find in all the seasons so it can be enjoyed anytime.

Ingredients

  • 1 Whole – Lauki / Dudhi / Bottle-guard (grated)

  • 1Tblsp – Ghee / Clarified Butter

  • 1 Cup – Sugar

  • 1 Cup – Milk Powder

  • Chopped nuts ( Cashew, Almond, Raisins)

Directions

  • Heat ghee / clarified butter in a heavy bottom pan.
  • Add grated bottle guard.
  • Cook for some time until bottle guard semi soft.
  • Add sugar and mix.
  • Sugar will release some water so cook until water dries out.
  • Add milk powder and mix.
  • Cook until desired consistency.
  • Garnish with nuts of you choice.

Tips

  • You can enjoy eating this delicious halwa hot or cold.
  • You can also add some cardamom powder once done.
  • If you do not have milk powder then cook bottle-guard in full fat milk.
  • You can also add khoya.
